Mawgan Porth Hall is currently closed due to flood damage POSTED 26th March 2024
On the evening of Monday the 25th March the river Menalhyl was overwhelmed by heavy rainfall and flooded several buildings and businesses in Mawgan Porth including Mawgan Porth Village Hall.
Our sympathies are with those others affected and our thanks are with all those who came to our aid. We have been inundated with help, offers of help and kind messages of support. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped today, we are blown away by the community spirt.
We are already consulting with professional assessors for advice, but for now we would like to apologise for the inconvenience this will cause users of the Hall and will post updates as they become available.

EXCITING NEWS!
HELP US UPGRADE THE LOOK OF THE HALL!
The Management Committee feel that the Village Hall should show itself to be the important centrepiece for all leisure, fitness, family and community events here in Mawgan Porth. We feel that it’s appearance does not do it justice and we would like to update it with a striking makeover.
We have our own ideas, of course but, as this is a building for the community, we appeal to the creative among the local community to let us have your ideas of how the front of the building can be made more attractive and more welcoming and, perhaps more practical.
Attached is a picture of the front of the Hall as it is.
Send us your ideas of how it could look, either by email or on a print to :
Viv Farmer, Polwithen, St Mawgan, Cornwall TR8 4EW or polwithen@aol.com
Kevin Lay, Son-Kla, Gwel An Mor, Mawgan Porth, Cornwall TR8 4DW or kevinjohnlay@btinternet.com
No prizes, but we will credit the successful designer in our publicity.

Mawgan Porth Village Hall
This fine village hall is in the heart of Mawgan Porth, just off the coast road between Padstow and Newquay. There is a large car park available with wheelchair access to the hall. The building is ideal for every occasion large or small, with a main hall, two smaller committee rooms and a fitted kitchen with a hatch into the main hall; it is a flexible space for a yoga class, children's party, a wedding reception, a small discussion room or a large village event. Stunning sea views provide a background for photos, just a short walk away, on the family beach.
There is a traditional wooden dance floor in the main hall which is licensed for 120 seated and 190 standing. The stage has some provision for the attachment of lighting and sound systems.
The building is licensed for both live and recorded musical performances, films and plays. Ample tables and chairs are available for small club meetings or larger table
top, fund-raising sales.
Mawgan Porth Village Hall is easy to find but out of the hustle and bustle of town.
